Beryl Mage Hunters can be found around 42,40. They have a special attack called Frost Cut, which reduces attack speed, cast speed and movement speed by 5% per stack. Each successful strike will apply a stack. Debuff has a 1 second duration so if the attack misses or is dodged, the entire stack will wear off.The drop rate of the keys is pretty decent as I got one after about 6 kills.
The prisons are located on the platforms. The one I used was at 41,42.

the first one i've opened it said something like: it's too late for me, and didn't gived me q completition..at the next opening of the same one, a mage apeared so if you get the message, try some more.Comment by 179845
I don't believe this is alliance specific anymore. Just got it on my Tauren.Comment by 170010
This is labeled as Alliance only, but this is also a Horde quest.Comment by Eveena
I found the mages at 41/39. You can see the blue glowing discs down in the valley from the cliffs of Amber Ledge. The mages look like mini dragons. The prisons are the boxes floating above the glowing discs. BTW Amber ledge also has a flight point and vendors including a repair guy.Comment by 170332
Probably a reference to the Prison Break series.Comment by pbij
Coolest boxes ever.Comment by 227817
Got mine after 2 kills.Confirmed that they drop quite often.
Comment by LittleUn
You can actually use the key on the same prison over and over until you get the freed one. I too, had the 'it's too late for me' but it does work..maybe after three tries.I hope this helps somebody.
Comment by silentshott
when i first opened the box the quest didnt complete, so i thought id have to get another key so i killed about 20 things and never got 1, once you use the key the first time you still have it so if the quest doesnt complete when you open it first keep opening itComment by Lynlee
In the tower, are a lot of Profession vendors, on the 2nd lvl. I was unable to find any Ammo, so be certain you are well stocked before coming to this outpost.Comment by 173040
As of now, a rogue can lockpick these prisons. I am 159 lockpicker and they were green colored to me.Comment by 135310
It's a really simple quest; First of all you have to kill Beryl Mage Hunters and get the Beryl Prison Key. Then, you have to right-click on the flying cube to release a prisoner. Congratulations! Go back to Libriarian Donathan to turn in the quest. As 'Moonfeather' said, Beryl Mage Hunters have a special attack called Frost Cut, which reduces attack speed, cast speed and movement speed by 5% per stack. They are really near to you. Just follow the path that leads down, and they are just a few yards ahead -easy to find them. Oh, and by the way, the quest's name rocks!
Comment by NymphetamineOD
Seems like these aren't dropping as of 3.1.0, I've killed at least 100 and no key yet.Comment by 291773
2 lucky Geezers! Just killed everyone in the area, magehunters and sorcerers.. twice. Still no key.Well, enough talk - kill everyone for the 3rd round and prey for a prisonkey.
Raaaaargh!
*Charges back to Beryl Point
(edit)
It worked! The southern-most prison (42,42) opened when clicked it, but i did not have any key. I recieved cloth, money, 1 super healing potion and salted venison, but nothing remotely key-like-looking.

87 kills.No key.
This is officially when I give up and move onto a more sensible quest.

If you are having difficulty getting the key to drop try dropping your group. It appears to be a bug (?) in the current patch.I killed every mob in the area - three times - and got no key. After dropping group I got it on my second kill. It's like the quest thinks you're in a raid group when you're just in a normal party group. At any rate - once one of your group gets the key just join up, open the box and all group members will get the quest completed :)

first kill, first key, first box, first mage.i feel so lucky
Comment by 110580
I killed about 60 or so and ended up abandoning the quest and wen't to get it again. First mob I kill after drops the key. Maybe try that.Comment by 619606
After opening the box and getting ported back in the tower, my quest log didn't update.. Is this bug somewhat new?Edit:
Nevermind, i was saving the wrong NPC. -_-

As a mage, the opening text of this quest made me scared.Comment by Psylo
The drop rate varies dramatically. On my DK which i leveled recently I got it on the first kill, but on the mage I'm leveling now I must have killed over 50 with no luck. Even done a few random dungeons in between.Comment by Shebashi
This quest is definitely bugged. Killed off 30-40 beryl mage hunters with no key drop. Dropped the quest and almost gave up, but after running another quest in the area I gave it one more shot. Key dropped on the second mob. So if you're running as bad a luck as me, try dropping and retaking the quest.Comment by 883725
Yep same here. Killed a heap, dropped the quest, reaquired and key dropped first kill.Comment by valorum
Once you get one key you can reuse it over and over again, you don't need to keep looking for more.Comment by shortlived
I just don't understand what it is I'm doing wrong here..I have the key but it won't allow me to use it, not on anything! What the fork?Comment by xoxnicole
I was having trouble OPENING the boxes and simply abandoned the quest and got it again- now it is working fine :)Comment by pabadin
had the key the second kill, but the prisoner died and i got no credit. i then killed about 10 more, no key, was ready to abandon the quest, but then i checked my bags. the same key could be used again! had killed all those mobs and got angry and frustrated for nothing.Comment by 1122042
After 4 tries, the box furthest west worked for me.Comment by 1127193
ok so key drop on the 2nd kill, but went to the disc with loads of prisons ...all empty so walked down SW and found a disc with only one cube and bingo that the one, hope this helpsComment by GitGudGuides

The drop rate for the key was always a bit lower than I'd like but this is the first time I've done this quest in years. I've cleared the area of Beryl Mage Hunters several times over and no key. I don't remember the drop rate being so frustratingly low.Arcane Prisoners Rescued (1) (1) |

In the last few weeks, the public has gotten a rare glimpse into the horrific plight of prisoners locked away in U.S. prisons and jails. With forest fires devastating the West Coast, prisoners continue to suffer and bear the brunt of indifference. A whistleblower at an ICE detention center in Georgia alleged that hysterectomies were performed on numerous women without their consent, drawing comparisons to the medical atrocities performed throughout history. In Rochester, New York, the police murder of Daniel Prude has led to daily protests and continued calls for structural change. In Washington State, police murdered an unarmed suspect, Michael Forest Reinoehl, who was alleged to have been involved in a shooting of a right-wing protester in Portland, Oregon. Meanwhile in Washington, Attorney General Barr has encouraged prosecutors to consider charging protesters with sedition, a charge often brought against those confronting the State.
Visitation is scheduled to re-open at the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) on October 3, while numerous state jails and prisons have already resumed visitations. COVID-19, however, continues to wreak havoc in jails and prisons, with many fearing that visitations will only exacerbate the problem.
As you flip your Certain Days: Freedom for Political Prisoners calendar to October, you'll experience a vibrant yet haunting self-portrait by formerly-incarcerated Richard Rivera, who spent 38 years imprisoned. The article for October is written by political prisoner and Certain Days inside collective member Xinachtli, and titled ‘Knitting Together Our Struggles: Global Capitalism as Our Common Unifier.' As you will know by now, PRE-SALES ARE NOW OPEN for the 2021 Certain Days: Freedom for Political Prisoners calendar. Order 1, 10, or 100 and rest assured that you're doing your part to support North American political prisoners.
In addition, this past year the Certain Days collective was honored with a Shuttleworth Foundation grant in honor of the tireless work we do in solidarity with political prisoners. We will be making some special offers to send copies to people in prison via our social media pages, so be sure to stay tuned.
Here's a rundown of what went down in September, and a look ahead at October.

Releases
- On September 9, Indigenous Water Protector and political prisoner Red Fawn Fallis was released to a halfway house after serving a full four-year sentence in a federal penitentiary. Fallis was arrested in Standing Rock, ND in 2016, during the standoff between Indigenous activists and militarized wings of the state. You can learn about additional Water Protectors still serving time here.

- Anti-fascist political prisoner David Campbell is scheduled to be released on October 17. Like others locked away, he will need continued support upon his release.
- Longtime Black liberation political prisoner Jalil Muntaqim has finally been granted parole, after at least 10 parole hearings, and is scheduled to be released in mid-October. As one of the longest serving political prisoners in North America, we look forward to his upcoming release.

Running Down the Walls
The 2020 Running Down the Walls (RDTW) events that took place in early September seem to have been successful, raising awareness and lots of money to support those locked away. Fundraising
Resistance to escalating state violence and authoritarianism continues to grow with each passing week. In mid-September two Indigenous people were arrested and held incommunicado following a border wall protest in Arizona, both since released. Unrest in Lancaster, Pennsylvania following the police murder of a local man has culminated in 12 protesters facing riot charges, with each being held on an astronomical $1 million bail.
Support sites for Urooj Rahman, Colinford Mattis, and Lore Elisabeth Blumenthal are still active, with each facing heavy charges from protests in response to the police murder of George Floyd.
While we are currently seeing an influx of political prisoners, we cannot forget those currently incarcerated and those recently released.
- Red Fawn Fallis (recently released to halfway house)
- Sundiata Acoli (fighting an appeal on a recent parole denial)
- Eric King (fighting additional charges carrying 20 more years)
- Chuck Africa (recently released)
In Case You Missed It
- Vegan anarchist political prisoner Eric King recently had some poetry published in the San Francisco BayView. Check it out, learn about Eric and his case, and offer support if you can.
- Longtime Black liberation political prisoner Jalil Muntaqim also recently had a piece published in the Bayview, dealing with Black August, COVID-19, and the continuing scourges of capitalism and the prison industrial complex (PIC).
- Here is an interesting new piece on the role of communism within the Black Panther Party, detailing the groups' revolutionary underpinnings and the state's endless battle to destroy the movement.
Prison Break (itch) (mashcroft) Mac Os Free
- Here is an interesting new piece on Black Anarchism and common misperceptions.
- You won't want to miss out on this new piece by Susie Day, discussing her soon-to-be published new book in conversation with Eddie Conway and Paul Coates. Conway, a former Black Panther who served over 40 years as a political prisoner, remains close with Coates, father of Ta-Nehisi Coates and founder of Black Classic Press, who was his staunchest supporter.
- Former political prisoner Laura Whitehorn recently wrote a piece to San Francisco State University President Lynn Mahoney critical of the university's support of Zionism rather than freedom of expression.

Certain Days to Keep in Mind
Besides there being a ton of political prisoner birthdays in October, there are also a ton of dates that commemorate radical history and those who struggled to make it happen. In October we celebrate, mourn, and learn from the various revolutionary struggles of John Brown, Angela Y. Davis, Che Guevara, Huey Newton, and Seth Hayes and numerous other Black Liberation militants. We recognize imperialist wars and the grassroots movements to end them, liberationist struggles for survival and freedom, and so much more. Be sure to pre-order your 2021 Certain Days calendar now so that you don't miss out on all this radical history!
